Positive Affirmations

Positive affirmations are sentences repeated many times in order to make an impact on your subconscious mind and set in motion your ability to focus on the situation you would like to achieve or produce. Positive affirmations are a way to make you feel better about yourself so that you can become empowered to believe in yourself and know that you are praiseworthy. You can repeat your positive affirmations, what you need to feel, believe, or want, silently or out loud to yourself, over and over, until you believe that affirmation in your mind. In everyday life, positive affirmations can be used to reprogram your mind from the negative thoughts or fears that you may have to positive ones. Positive affirmations can help you feel better about yourself so that you can take control of your life. They are a means of self improvement. However, affirmations do not make things happen. You do. You become more strong and independent the more you believe in yourself.

By using the same saying over and over you begin to believe the statement. The left side of the brain needs to explore the saying and then pass it to the right side of the brain. The right side of your brain is not worried with judgment, only the emotions that you feel. The brain will accept the thought and turn it to a positive feeling. Anxiety and unconstructive feelings will disappear. A new self confidence will come to light. Positive affirmations are similar to visualizations that you may use in meditations . The words you repeat build mental images in your mind. The words help to focus on the object or situation you want to achieve , believe, or create. Frequent repetitions make the subconscious mind accept them, and then it influences and affects the way you think, act and behave.

It is best to repeat affirmations that are not too lengthy. A short sentence or even a word is enough. They can be repeated, when your mind is not occupied by something in particular, such as waiting in line at the supermarket, walking, meditating, etc. You should repeat the positive affirmations as many times as you feel necessary in a day. It is very important to choose only positive affirmations and to affirm in the present tense, not the future tense. You want to feel better about yourself now, not down the road! The subconscious mind always accepts what we tell it, therefore only tell yourself positive things. Negativity breeds negativity. Positive affirmations change negative thoughts to positive ones. Strive for the positive always!

You may say the affirmation out loud to make it more real, or try looking in the mirror while repeating it. You can also write your affirmation down and keep it with you, look at it often. Writing the affirmation in a journal and keeping track of the progress you are making toward your goal of believing in yourself can really help you as well. When you release negative emotions such as fear, guilt, anger, hate, etc. and replace them with positive ones you know you are attaining what you have set out to do. You are empowering yourself! You are recreating yourself as someone loving, beautiful and nurturing. You are relearning to love and believe in yourself.

Possible affirmations can be as simple as: “I am very confident“, “I forgive myself“, “My body is beautiful“, “I have peace within“, “I am relaxed and happy“, or simply “I am loved“. Use whatever is important to you! Whatever you need in your life at this time. Just remember to stay positive and in the present! By using the influence of positive affirmations you build what you want for your life.

You must believe in your self in order to move along in your journey. You can´t question everything you do or have done nor can you allow others to keep you from moving forward by putting their unpleasant ways of thinking on you! Use the positive affirmations that fit you best and believe in yourself. You are wonderful.

Building Soul
Posted by on 05 November, 2004

One day several years ago, my stable and sane life began to crash around me. In the process of ending my marriage, loosing my own business, and having my health slowly deteriorate, I had a spiritual awakening. I had a moment of connection with a reality beyond my ordinary state of consciousness. I woke up to a different world where I experienced everything as interconnected. A world that has many invisible, unseen layers or realities. Loosing everything was the best thing that ever happened to me. I began to learn what it meant to find meaning from my own direct experience.

Instead of medicating or drugging myself from the despair and inner pain that I felt so strongly in my body, I choose to look directly into myself and explore the dark recesses of what my soul was. From this place I began a journey of claiming and re-building my soul back into my body. It has been a very difficult and unusual path where I have traveled far into many realms. I studied shamanism, buddhism, psychotherapy, bodywork, energy work, yoga and many other alternative forms of healing.

I used to be an Architect and like creating a building, the ground is where the foundation of any building begins. The soil is fertile ground where many bugs, worms, parasites and bacteria are. Our soul needs this rich soil as a foundation for the seed of light in our hearts to grow into a green shoot and eventually burst through the soil reaching for sunlight and rain to nourish it. Our past history of pain or trauma acts as an incubator shaping our particular plant or building into its unique form. Our soul includes something from our spirit beyond this life as well as being influenced by the particular ‘soil’ around it. Every experience is a gift of uniqueness that shapes us and informs us. From these experiences we learn how to choose how we respond on this journey of life.

During travels into my own consciousness, I also had to learn how to heal and clear the blocks of energy in my body that held me back from growing and expanding. That held back my soul from fully being able to incarnate into my body. These blocks would manifest as an intensity of emotions or reactions to others with negative feelings such as despair, fear, grief, shame or anger that would throw my body and mind out of balance. Or my body would present a physical illness that I would eventually learn how to ‘hear’ what I needed to change in myself to heal it. I learned how to be able to feel my body and not leave it whenever I felt pain.

With my spiritual awakening, I was given new gifts of intuition and visionary inner sight that I never had before. It took awhile for my ego to not be frightened of this, integrate it and allow it in as an enriching aspect of myself. This created a total transformation of my intellectual, spiritual, emotional and physical bodies.

In learning how to embrace the process of change for myself, I have found the wisdom to accept what I call a state of formlessness. I have learned how to recognize the old ways of thinking that no longer work for me and let go of them. In the process of letting go, I go through something like a death - an ego-death. This allows the seeds of a new way of being to begin to form from the ashes of the old. But to let myself go into this process I had to learn how to trust and how to reach out and ask for help. I had to learn how to build a whole new support system that would act as bridges once I left the old island of isolation and dysfunctional reality that my ego thought was the only way that life could be.

Because of my spiritual experiences, I had resources of direct experience that allowed me to know that there was always another possibility to what I understood even if I could not see it at the time. It took great courage to face the unknown and go into unpleasant places in my body and mind. But over and over again, the payoff began to show through in my life as I reconstructed an entirely new way of being for myself. My health has almost fully recovered and my new practice as a healer is steadily growing.

The pain and suffering of my body and mind called me to search for something that could bring meaning to why I was here and what my purpose was. Without the pain, I would never have had the need to look elsewhere for understanding or help. What I experienced as my deepest wounds became the ingredients of understanding what my soul came here to do in this lifetime.

The paradox is that as I help others, it in return feeds and nourishes my soul. I always feel such an excitement and interest to do this work, to be able to connect deeply and authentically with others, to learn more about it and myself through it. My inner work of rebuilding my soul through healing my own core trauma became a calling as a visionary Architect of the Soul helping others to re-construct and re-build their own unique, complex souls.
